It is a 5 stage residential air purifier designed to reduce airborne particles. The True HEPA filter is capable of removing up to 99.97% of all particles greater than or equal to 0.3 microns in size. This means it can capture particles that the eye cannot even see.
Q. How is Mountain Breeze different to other air purifiers on the market?
Mountain Breeze Filters are contained within a plastic frame, designed to minimize air leakage. Dirty air will pass through gaps if there are any, between the filter and the frame. The air will not be cleaned meaning poor efficiency. The plastic frame in Mountain Breeze helps form a seal around the filter, meaning the dirty air has to pass through the True HEPA filter and not around it.
Q. Why should I buy one?
Are you a smoker, pet owner or the devoted parent of a newborn, toddler or teen? Do you spend a lot of time indoors? Do you suffer from asthma, sneezing or watery eyes? Then indoor air quality should be part of your everyday consideration.
Q. What size room is it suitable for?
This unit can handle large living spaces. It is difficult to give an estimate because the area cleaned also depends on how long the unit is running for. As a guide we say it can effectively clean up to 40 sq. metre rooms. Recycling the air 5 times in one hour. If your room is smaller, it will clean the air quicker. If your room is larger, it will recycle the air proportionately fewer times per hour.
Q. How quickly does it clean the air?
At maximum fan speed the product will clean up to a 40 sq. metre room 5 times per hour. This means all the air in the room goes through the filters 5 times.
Q. How big is it?
Approx. 560mm x 460mm x 250mm.
Q. Is it heavy?
It weighs just less than 9KG.
Q. Is it noisy?
There are 4 fan speeds on the machine. Speed 1 has been designed with noise reduction in mind and is less than 35dB, which is similar to a whisper. Speed 4 is designed to move air quickly when the room needs to be cleaned quickly and is noisier. If there is a loud rustling noise, check the plastic covering the filters has been removed.
Q. What colour is it?
Silver and white.
Q. How much energy does it use?
At maximum it uses 115W. During normal use it uses the same amount of energy as a light bulb.
Q. What is the 5 stage purification process in Mountain Breeze?
Washable pre-filter
Removes the big particles from the air and pro-longs the life of the True HEPA filter.
The washable filter gets dirty quickly so it needs to be hand washed frequently.
It is coated in an anti-bacterial agent to prevent bacteria growth on its surface.
True HEPA filter
True HEPA is recognised as the best method of filtering air due to its removal capacity
The filter is completely sealed in a frame as to be completely effective against dust mites, pollen, viruses, bacteria, mould spores and tobacco smoke.
It can remove 99.97% of particles greater than or equal to 0.3 microns from the air
It also has the ability to allow air to flow through it.
Activated carbon filter
Activated carbon is a highly porous material that can absorb volatile chemicals on a molecular basis (e.g. smoke & odour), but does not remove larger particles. It is normally used in conjunction with other filter technology, especially with HEPA
Carbon cannot efficiently remove VOCs, chemicals, and strong odours from the air – the pre filter & HEPA filer will do this.
This three stage filtration system gives a thorough cleaning performance
It is especially effective at removing particles that trigger allergic reactions
Puri-tech Technology
Puri-tech is an advanced scientific technology that uses short wave Ultra-Violet light and Titanium Dioxide to generate Hydroxil Radicals that break down the DNA of organic particles.
commonly used for sterilization, to kill 99.9% of bacteria and viruses
Independent research confirms its effectiveness against molds, bacteria, and viruses
It is not a filtering technology, as it does not trap or remove particles – The Pre Filter & HEPA filters do this.
UVA sterilization bulbs must be replaced about every 5000 hours.
For sterility, ultraviolet purification that use UVA tubes (which Mountain Breeze does), is commonly used by hospitals and clinics.
Ioniser
Ionizer purifier’s use charged electrical surfaces to generate electrically charged ions.
Negative ions are released & these Ions attach to airborne particles which are then electrostatically attracted.
It has been known to improve your mood and also reduce the feelings of stress and fatigue.
As the ions increase in weight to the VOC particles, it assists them to fall from the air without activating any contaminates.
Mountain Breeze draws large falling particles into the filters.
Combined with titanium photo catalyst technology, the use of titanium simulates photosynthesis and converts the pollutants into oxygen – or clean air.
Q. Does it emit ozone?
Due to the nature of the product, electrical devices give off a minute trace of ozone. Mountain Breeze Air Purifiers have undergone significant testing with the ozone safety testing association UL867, and are well below the maximum limit recommended by international bodies. Further testing continues to be had, to ensure Russell Hobbs only brings you the best.
Q. Where is the best place for it to be sited?
Ideally it should be sited on the floor.
Q. What information does the LCD screen display?
The LCD shows setting information and maintenance information.
Current fan speed,
Whether the Puri-tech function is on or off,
Whether the Ioniser is on or off,
The time
Gives an air quality reading based on information from the sensors.
The display also shows when one of the UV tubes has failed and tells you when you need to check your filters for replacement.
Q. The LCD screen display won’t work?
Check that the plastic strip has been removed to protect the lithium battery at the top of the unit.
Q. How do the sensors work?
The dust sensor detects the quantity of particles in the air using a red light like a laser.
The odour sensor detects certain chemical compounds in the atmosphere.
Q. Is there a remote control?
Yes. This controls fan speed, Ioniser on/off, Puri-tech on/off, countdown timer and power on/off.
Q. Do I have to re-set the clock after unplugging?
No. There is a lithium battery in the product that keeps the time set no matter how many times you unplug the unit.
Q. Do I have to re-set the clock after changing the lithium battery?
Yes.
Q. Is it good for cooking smells?
The product will reduce general odours effectively but it will not, for example, completely remove all strong cooking odours.
Q. How much does it cost to run?
It has good energy efficiency so the electricity costs are similar to that of a light bulb. The replacement filter costs depend on how often you change them.
Q. What is UVA?
UVA is a form of ultra-violet light used in the Puri-tech process. UVA is safer and less aggressive than UVC.
Q. Should it be left on all day and night?
Ideally it should. Air cleaning is a continual process, not an event.
Your indoor air is constantly under attack so keeping your air purifier on all the time is the best way to maintain a clean indoor environment.
Q. Where can I get replacement filters & UV Bulbs?
It depends upon the environment they are being used in. Very smoky and dusty environments will clog the filters more quickly than a clean environment. In general use the:
Pre filter & True HEPA filter will last around 12 months
Carbon filter will last around 6 months.
Check on the colour chart on each filter as to how dirty your filters are. This will indicate if you need to replace them.
Q. Is the True HEPA filter medical grade?
Mountain Breeze uses a H11/12 class True HEPA filter.
Q. How long do the UVA bulbs last?
They are Philips branded tubes with a life of 5000 hours.
Q. Does it require any cleaning or maintenance?
Yes. The pre-filter is washable and should be cleaned regularly. The pre-filter is to be hand washed and / or vacuumed. The HEPA and carbon filters should be inspected and changed when required.
Q. How long is the warranty?
Defects affecting product functionality appearing within two years of purchase will be corrected by replacement or repair provided the product is used and maintained in accordance with the instructions.
Q. I have lost my instruction book. How do I get another?
